SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE
Why do you want to serve on the Youth Commission? Why do you believe the Youth Commission is important?
I want to serve on the SSF Youth Commission because I believe in the power of representation and recognition. As a minority in many of my involvements, such as being a female in STEM and golf, I understand how vital it is for underrepresented voices to be heard and seen.

Being the leader of El Caminos Recognition Commission, I have worked to uplift and celebrate the diverse cultures within our school by organizing events for Women's History Month, African American History Month, and other heritage events. I believe this experience has helped me develop a strong sense of responsibility to advocate for others, which I hope to bring to the Youth Commission. Through this work, I strive to create a more inclusive environment where every student feels empowered and recognized. I am most excited about the Youth Commission's role in engaging with the community and local government. I believe.

The Youth Commission addresses issues affecting youth and the community through making recommendations to City Council. Please explain what you believe is the biggest issue concerning youth in South San Francisco today.

One of the biggest issues concerning youth in South San Francisco today is the lack of equitable access to higher education. For far too long, higher education has often been a privilege of the upper class, forming a gateway to success, which remains blocked by financial and systemic barriers for many students.

As someone passionate about accessibility, I believe these obstacles must be addressed. To begin, the federal FAFSA system often fails to accurately reflect a family's financial reality, especially in cases of split households. Many students, myself included, rely on a single parent for financial support, yet receive misleading tuition estimates through net price calculators. Additionally, middle-class families often fall into a difficult gap where they earn too much to qualify for aid, yet too little to comfortably afford tuition. In result, this leaves students burdened with long-term debt or forced to skip college entirely.

Can you commit to attending 6:30 p.m. meetings on the third Monday of each month? •YES •NO If no, please explain:
