SUPPLEMENTAL QUESTIONNAIRE
Why do you want to serve on the Youth Commission? Why do you believe the Youth Commission is important?
I would like to serve on the Youth Commission because I am passionate about creating STEM and robotics opportunities to bridge the gap between classroom science and real world innovation and create educational opportunities for all youth, regardless of their background. Right now, robotics is expensive for many families, the kits, the software, and the competition fees that create a massive barrier to entry. I would like to advocate for city-funded robotics and STEM programs in our libraries and community centers. We can turn our peers and the future generations into the engineers and innovators to meet our city's tuture needs.
I believe the Youth Commission is important because no one understands the needs of young people better than we do. As the Youth Commission, I can turn these ideas into city policy, moving robotics to a standard resource in our libraries and community centers. Everyone has the potential to do robotics, but not everyone has the access now. This can be changed!

The biggest issue I believe is there are so many youth's potential remains hidden because there are no mentorship programs to guide them through complex STEM and robotics paths. A mentorship or peer-to-peer program can help to connect local experts and local tech companies with students in every neighborhood to ensure every student's potential is revealed and supported. The great outcome is a generation of youth leaders who use robotics and STEM to solve local city issues, like environmental or social challenges.
Can you commit to attending 6:30 p.m. meetings on the third Monday of cach month? r EYES • NO If no, please explain:
