Formatted: Right
Dedication of the new public facility shall occur only after the building is completed and ready for occupancy. Dedications should recognize the efforts of prior City Councils in designing and facilitating the construction of the public facility. A majority vote from the City Council will be required for all building dedications. All new dedications of naming individuals or buildings should also be reviewed by the City Council Naming Committee.

Council has suspended the Naming Policy for city streets, facilities, and amenities that recognize individuals. During this suspension, no new requests or approvals to name civic assets in honor of individuals will proceed. This pause allows Council to review and consider potential updates to the policy before future naming decisions are made.

Policy is suspended pending further direction. A City Council consensus for the Naming Committee members, comprised of Mayor Addiego and Councilmember Nicolas, to meet to review and develop objective criteria and present a recommendation for the full Council's consideration.
