Currently Involved in: Pacific Beach Coalition - (August 2023 - Present) I was recently promoted from Westborough Middle School and am enrolling in a private school. Currently, I am not involved in many activities anymore. Here are some of my past community involvements in Westborough:
Leadership & Class Council (2023-2026), 7th & 8th Grade Honor Society (2024-2026), Planeteers Club (2023-2025), Science Bowl Club & Competition Team (2023-2026), Math Competition Club (2025-2026), Chess Club (2023-2025) Here are my planned future commitments as of right now:
Model United Nations (MUN) Club, Pacific Beach Coalition, Earth Club, Heart in Motion The biggest issue concerning the youth in South San Francisco today is mobility and public transit. After taking a poll of 10 of my friends in South City and 10 in San Francisco, I found that all of my friends in San Francisco took public transit while only 1 in South City did on a day-to-day basis. Personally, I only learned to use public transit a few months ago. This begs the question, why? Many of my classmates were concerned about safety. Others stated the bus routes were confusing to navigate. One solution would be to hold assemblies at each of South City's schools to introduce and educate young people about public transportation. Learning how to use it not only can improve our transit efficiency but also reduces our greenhouse gas emissions.
Furthermore, one of my peers mentioned that it is quite difficult to move around without a car. Recently, I strained my back while playing sports. When walking in the neighborhood for exercise, the constant up and down of the terrain puts a lot of strain on my muscles. Especially for elderly people who are not allowed to drive, even walking to a bus stop can be extremely exhausting. Everyone of us will grow old eventually; our senior citizens have played their part in society. Albeit there is no immediately solution to this issue, I know it should be their right to be able to live out their days in comfort.
