RECOGNITION OF CALIFORNIA WATER SERVICE’S
100 YEARS OF SERVICE
WHEREAS, California Water Service (Cal Water) is celebrating its one hundredth anniversary, and the City of South San Francisco recognizes Cal Water’s unwavering commitment to serving our residents, contributing to the high quality of life for our community; and
WHEREAS, marking its 100 years of service with the theme Trust on Tap, Cal Water has been a trusted partner of the State of California since the company’s founding in 1926, delivering essential water services to more than two million people statewide while guided by its promise to provide quality, service, and value to its customers; and WHEREAS, Cal Water has also demonstrated exemplary resource stewardship through its conservation programs and rebates, which helped its customers reduce their water use by 30 percent between 2000 and 2020, supporting both environmental sustainability and household affordability; and
WHEREAS, in addition to investing responsibly in infrastructure, sustainability initiatives, and community well-being, Cal Water has regularly undertaken proactive, ongoing maintenance and upgrades to ensure its ability to deliver safe, clean drinking water and improve its emergency readiness capabilities; and
WHEREAS, recognized as one of “America's Most Responsible Companies” and one of the “World's Most Trustworthy Companies” by Newsweek, Cal Water has also been lauded as a Great Place to Work Institute, all of which are honors that reflect the company's commitment to protecting the planet, caring for people, and operating with the utmost integrity; and WHEREAS, across generations of employees and leaders, Cal Water has steadfastly maintained its commitment to enhancing the quality of life for customers and their communities while creating jobs, supporting the local economies, and engaging with community organizations in neighborhoods throughout the State.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of South San Francisco does hereby congratulate California Water Service on the momentous occasion of its 100th anniversary; commend Cal Water for the vital role it has played in providing safe, clean, reliable water services to people throughout the City of South San Francisco and California; and extend best wishes for continued success in the years to come.
