Subject: [External] Mayoral Elections
Dear Ms. Tsafopoulos,
We write to express our strong support for eliminating mayoral elections and instead rotating the mayorship among the Council members. This change will greatly decrease the amount of money being spent on local elections and is a healthy alternative to the often divisive nature of these races.
Thank you.

Subject: [External] Change in how St. Helena selects Mayor Hello Cindy,
I understand that an upcoming City Council meeting will include an item proposing a change in how we elect the Mayor of St. Helena. Instead of holding an expensive, time and energy‐consuming election every two years for mayor, the Council would rotate or elect among themselves.
I am writing to say that as a longtime citizen I am definitely in favor of this change. Anything that will take money out of our elections is good, and I believe having a separate election every two years for mayor is unnecessary. These elections have divided our town unpleasantly (and unnecessarily) when we need to be united and focused on the many issues and needs we face.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Dear Cindy,
Please convey my support for having our mayor chosen by the City Council either by rotation or internal election. I hope we can avoid the expensive and divisive mayoral elections we have had in the past.
Thank you,

Dear City Council,
I fully support the elimination of mayor by public vote.
I think the most effective system would be that of rotation with whomever is on the current council when the ordinance is adopted selecting who goes first and in what order the rotation proceeds.
Sincerely,
Nancy Dervin

Subject: [External] Electing our Mayor.
I support having the Council elect the Mayor or perhaps just rotate the position on an annual basis based on seniority or in alphabetical order. Having watched the current Mayor purchase his position for an outrageous amount of $$ still leaves a bad taste. Let's get money out of this small town.
