10A. CONSIDERATION OF ORDINANCE NO. 1144 AMENDING SECTION 20. 400. 030
OF THE STANTON MUNICIPAL CODE PERTAINING TO THE STANDARDS FOR
ALCOHOL SALES IN MIXED -USE OVERLAY AREAS
Applicant Jawdet Hanoun submitted a request to amend the Stanton Municipal Code in order to update regulations for alcohol sales in Mixed -Use projects.
Currently, the Zoning Code does not allow alcohol sales to be conducted in proximity to residential uses. This automatically prohibits the sale of alcohol in any commercial tenant space of a mixed -use project because residential and commercial uses are located on the same property. The applicant requested an amendment to introduce new regulations that would allow the sale of alcohol in mixed -use projects. The Planning Commission held a hearing on June 19, 2024 where they heard the request, along with a proposal for a new high -end neighborhood market and adopted Resolution No. 2566 recommending approval of Ordinance No. 1144. The Ordinance to amend Section 20. 400. 030of the Stanton Municipal Code proposes to establish specific regulations to allow alcohol sales in mixed -use developments located in designated Mixed -Use Overlays or Mixed -Use Districts.
Staff report by Mr. Irving Anaya, Senior Planner.
