Resolution No.
STOCKTON CITY COUNCIL
RESOLUTION TO APPROVE AMENDMENT TO THE FISCAL YEAR 2024-25 FEE SCHEDULE RELATED TO ILLEGAL DUMPING FINES On May 15, 2024, the Legislation and Environmental Committee ("Committee") requested staff to draft a proposed ordinance regarding illegal dumping in the City of Stockton (“City”) and bring it forward to City Council for approval. Stockton Municipal Code Chapter 8 regulates Health & Safety matters. Currently, the Chapter has no provisions prohibiting illegal dumping in the City; and This proposed ordinance will help safeguard our neighborhoods and areas of business against the harms of illegal dumping. Illegal dumping creates significant blight within the City, and often leads to continuous dumping in repeated areas; and The City seeks to implement a fine to curb the rise in illegal dumping in City limits as proposed in the new ordinance section 8.104. The amended fee schedule is intended to recover the costs of enforcing the new section and all associated work the enforcement creates; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STOCKTON, AS FOLLOWS:
1. The City Council approves the amendment of the Fiscal Year 2024-25 Fee Schedule to create new fees concerning illegal dumping, attached as Exhibit 1, and incorporated by this reference.
2. The City Manager is authorized to take whatever actions are necessary and appropriate to carry out the intent of this Resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED September 10, 2024 .
