RESOLUTION APPROVING CITY ATTORNEY LORI M. ASUNCION’S FIRST AMENDED EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE THE FIRST AMENDED EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT, AND AUTHORIZING STAFF TO AMEND THE CITY OF STOCKTON SALARY SCHEDULE TO REFLECT THE INCREASE IN CITY ATTORNEY BASE SALARY AND IMPLEMENT THE TERMS OF THE FIRST AMENDED EMPLOYMENT AGREEMENT Lori M. Asuncion was appointed as the City Attorney of Stockton in September 2022; and In the Spring and early Summer of 2024, the City Council authorized an extensive performance evaluation of Ms. Asuncion. In recognition of the City Council’s assessment and positive evaluation of the City Attorney’s performance, the first since her appointment, the City Council proposes amended terms and conditions of employment; and The proposed terms and conditions of the first amendment employment agreement are similar to other city attorneys in comparable jurisdictions; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STOCKTON, AS FOLLOWS:
1. The approval of the First Amended Employment Agreement with Lori M. Asuncion setting forth the terms and conditions of employment effective October 1, 2024, and authorizes staff to amend the City of Stockton salary schedule to reflect the increase in City Attorney base salary, a copy of which is attached as Exhibit 1.
2. The Mayor is authorized, on behalf of the City Council, to execute the attached First Amended Employment Agreement marked as Exhibit 1.
3. The Mayor is further authorized and directed to take whatever actions are necessary and appropriate to carry out the purpose and intent of this Resolution including PASSED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED October 1, 2024 .
