A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SUNNYVALE AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF
SUBGRANTS AND AGREEMENTS FUNDED BY THE
WORKFORCE INNOVATION AND OPPORTUNITY ACT,
AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN ACT, AND PERSONAL
RESPONSIBILITY AND WORK OPPORTUNITY
RECONCILIATION ACT/CALIFORNIA WORK
OPPORTUNITY AND RESPONSIBILITY TO KIDS, AND
AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF DOCUMENTS RELATED
TO SUCH SUBGRANTS AND AGREEMENTS
WHEREAS, NOVA Workforce Services, a department of the City of Sunnyvale, was awarded funding from the California Employment Development Department, United States Department of Labor, and the United States Department of Health & Human Services to provide workforce development services to eligible customers in an eight- jurisdiction workforce region;
WHEREAS, State and Federal funders require authorization from subrecipients to accept subgrants and agreements to receive funding; and WHEREAS, in Resolution No. 167-00, the City Council previously authorized specific positions to conduct required negotiations and to sign all documents and agreements necessary for acceptance, implementation, and management of such subgrants and agreements; and
WHEREAS, the City wishes to expand the current list of authorized signatories for the City to include the Assistant City Manager.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SUNNYVALE THAT:
1. The City Council hereby authorizes acceptance of subgrants and agreements from the Employment Development Department of the State of California, the United States Department of Labor funded by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and American Rescue Plan Act, and/or the United States Department of Health & Human Services funded by the Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Reconciliation Act/California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs).
2. On behalf of the City, the Mayor, City Manager, Assistant City Manager, and Director of NOVA Workforce Services are hereby authorized to conduct required negotiations and to execute all documents and agreements necessary for acceptance, implementation, and management of the subgrants or agreements.
