A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SUNNYVALE CONVERTING THE PORTION OF
BOOKER AVENUE BETWEEN MATHILDA AVENUE AND
ARIES WAY FROM A TWO-WAY STREET INTO A ONE-
WAY STREET
WHEREAS, on September 27, 2021, the City of Sunnyvale’s Planning Commission (“Planning Commission”) approved a Special Development Permit (SDP 2019-7923) for the property at 300 S. Mathilda Avenue (APN: 209-37-019), which permits the construction of a six-story office building with 153,000 square feet and ground floor retail space with 12,735 square feet, 88,915 square feet of parking and 1,009 square feet of service area, and one level of below-grade parking (“Project”) ; and WHEREAS, on September 27, 2021, the Planning Commission approved the revised final conditions of approval and standard development requirements applicable to the Project; and
WHEREAS, as part of the revised final conditions of approval on February 3, 2022, the Project requires the conversion of Booker Avenue between Mathilda Avenue and Aries Way from a two-way roadway to a one-way eastbound roadway to improve safety for all users of the road by improving traffic circulation near the project vicinity and minimizing vehicle-pedestrian and vehicle-bicycle conflicts. The western portion of Booker Avenue, which is a public street, will be converted to a one-way street, and is shown in Exhibit A, attached hereto and incorporated by reference; and
WHEREAS, the conversion of Booker Avenue from a two-way to a one-way street is required prior to issuance of the building permit; and WHEREAS, p ursuant to Sunnyvale Municipal Code Section 10.08.180, the City Council may designate a one-way street by adopting an ordinance or resolution; and WHEREAS, the conversion of Booker Avenue from a two-way to a one-way street requires the preparation of a resolution subject to review and approval by the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SUNNYVALE THAT:
1. The City Council approves converting a portion of Booker Avenue between Mathilda Avenue and Aries Way, which is a public street, from a two-way to a one-way eastbound street as shown on Exhibit A.
2. This Resolution will be effective upon its adoption.
