CALL TO ORDER
Equity, Access, and Inclusion Manager (EAI) Fernanda Perdomo-Arciniegas called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. in the Bay Conference Room.

PRESENTATION
A 23-0729 Brown Act Review
Brow act review highlighted the act's provisions, such as requiring public access to meetings, providing agendas in advance, and enabling citizens to participate through public comment periods. The review concludes that the Brown Act plays a crucial role in promoting democratic principles and citizen engagement in the decision-making process.

Officials
The Code of Ethics and Conduct for Elected and Appointed Officials outlines the standards and principles that govern the behavior and responsibilities of individuals

July 13, 2023Human Relations Commission Meeting Minutes serving in public office or appointed positions. It serves as a guide to maintain integrity, transparency, and ethical conduct while carrying out their duties in the best interest of the public.
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
Agnes Veith addressed the appointed commissioners and thanked them for being on the Human Relations Commission. Expressed excitement for what this board and commission will accomplish in the future.
Fernanda Perdomo-Arcinegas called recess at 7:23 pm. Commissioners returned to the Bay Conference room at 7:39 pm. All Commissioners present with the exception of Commissioner Ramisetty.
PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS
1 23-0730 Select a Chair and Vice Chair for the Human Relations Commission
Fernanda Perdomo- Arciniegas informed the Commission that the selection of chair and vice chair would be conducted after the presentations.

C 23-0734 Human Relations Overview
EAI Manager Perdomo-Arciniegas conducted an in-depth examination and reviewed why the human relations commission was started.
D 23-0731 Review Work Plan For The Human Relations Commission EAI Manager Perdomo-Arciniegas reviewed the work plan for the Human Relations Commission and conducted in-depth examination and discussion of the future work plan.

Intergroup Dialogue Training
EAI Manager Perdomo-Arciniegas conducted a training for the Commissioners to instill baseline knowledge of Intergroup dialogue. The learning was aimed to help recognize and address biases, stereotypes, and prejudices while building mutual respect and collaboration between various communities.

EAI Manager Perdomo-Arciniegas opened for Nominations for Chair. Commissioner León nominated Commissioner Syquia. Commissioner Syquia did not accept nomination due to not knowing the responsibilities of the Chair.
