Title: Adopt a Resolution Approving the City Council Regular Meeting Calendar for 2024 Through February 2025
RESPONSE TO COUNCIL QUESTIONS RE: 11/14/2023 CITY COUNCIL AGENDA Council Question: In 2023, we had 3 weeks off in April. Can we rearrange 2024 schedule to have 3 weeks off?
Staff Response: School districts serving Sunnyvale children have Spring Break scheduled the week of Tuesday, April 16, 2024*. These include Cupertino Unified School District, Fremont Unified High School District, Sunnyvale School District and Santa Clara Unified School District. To provide for a three-week break in Council meetings during April 2024 Council would end up meeting four weeks in a row (March 19, 26, April 2 and 9) or five weeks in a row (April 23, 30, May 7, 13 + 14 and 21).
Councilmember(s) interested in changing these or other dates on the draft City Council Regular Meeting Calendar should pull this agenda item from the Consent Calendar for discussion and direction regarding the desired changes.
Council Question Is there a reason why the June 11th meeting is not June 18th? (In looking at this year, there was normally only 1 week between our last two meetings in June) Staff Response: The June 11, 2024 proposed meeting date could be moved to June 18, 2024. This change may reduce the amount of time staff have to prepare the budget between the proposed May 23, 2024 Budget Workshop and final budget adoption, depending on the final adoption date.

Council Question: Is there a specific reason for a July 9th meeting. If we had a July 23rd meeting instead, Council and Staff could have a longer block of time off in the summer between meetings.
Staff Response: The July 9, 2024 proposed meeting date could be moved to July 23, 2024. This would cause a three-week break between the June 25 and July 23, 2024 Council meetings.

Council Question: Would it be possible to instead schedule the first Aug. 2024 council meeting for Aug. 6 rather than Aug. 13?
Staff Response: The Aug. 13, 2024 proposed meeting date could be moved to Aug. 6, 2024. This would cause a conflict with the Aug. 6, 2024 National Night Out.
