n behalf of the City of Sunnyvale, we respectfully request the Board support funding and services for unhoused residents in Santa Clara County. The City is committed to systematically addressing homelessness through the development of innovative programs and services to serve unhoused individuals residing in Sunnyvale and including the voices of those with lived experience of homelessness in the service development process.
T
he Sunnyvale City Council identified Supporting the Unhoused Community as a Council Priority for the past three fiscal years, while also establishing key studies in fiscal years 2023/24 and 2024/25 around unhoused programs including Overnight Warming Locations, Safe Parking/Safe RV Parking, Universal Basic Income, and Opportunities for Interim Family Housing.
T
he City of Sunnyvale places a high priority on supporting our unhoused community through our participation in the Santa Clara County Continuum of Care, our continued support of local unhoused service providers, and our City Council’s prioritization of unhoused study issues year after year (Policy HE-5.6). The City also continues to implement various policies and programs aimed at providing housing at a variety of affordability levels for residents of all incomes.
