Desde que vivo en la ciudad he visto algunas problematicas de inclusion y diversidad. Me gustaria ser parte del cambio y la solucion para hacer de esta ciudad un lugar en el que pueda seguir residiendo y creciendo en mis objetivos educativos.

Puedo traer una vision fresca desde la perspectiva de un joven que acaba de llegar al pais y ha experimentando muchos de los desafios que la comunidad inmigrante enfrenta dia a dia. Soy estudiante de bachillerato que reside con su madre en el shelter.
Donde vivo y donde estudio veo muchas de las dificultades por los que la comunidad atraviesa y quiero traer mis ganas y mi esfuerzo para cambiar la realidad de muchas personas.
Soy apasionado por las cosas, me gusta aprender y trabajar en equipo. Me gusta mucho escuchar a las personas y encontrar soluciones productivas y beneficiosas.
Soy muy eficiente en lo que me propongo. Me esfuerzo por alcanzar los objetivos que me propogo de manera individual y colectiva.
Soy muy positivo, no importa la dificultad, siempre trato de ser esa cara alegre que da sonrisas a todas las personas que lo necesitan.

Como lo mencione anteriormente soy una persona que cree firmente en el poder de escuchar a las personas. Cuando nos tomamos las tareas de escuchar a diferentes individuos no solamente que son afines a nuestra cultura e ideologia
empezamos a crear comunidad basada en el respeto y la
tolerancia.
Este seria el primer paso para iniciar procesos de inclusion y equidad en la ciudad, entendiendo que escuchando creamos espacios de participacion ciudadana y generamos sentido de pertenencia e implicacion.
De esta forma encontraremos respuestas a las problematicas e inquietudes comunes que las personas tienen diariamente al acceder a los servicios y programas publicos que ofrece la ciudad. . Ademas al diferentes grupos culturales de la ciudad, estariamos generando un sentimiento de equidad, inclusion, donde toda persona se sienta que es parte de la ciudad y que su opinion es valiosa.

Soy parte de los lideres comunitarios de Sunnyvale Community Services. Como miembro del grupo he participado en diferentes actividades para mejorar la calidad de vida de nuestros vecinos a traves de obras sociales y abogacia.
Ademas participo dentro del grupo de voluntarios latinos de la Homestead High School.

What do you think are major
equity challenges facing the
Sunnyvale community?
Yo soy la prueba de muchos situaciones de inequidad en
Sunnyvale. Soy hijo de una madre soltera. Su salari aun no lo es lo suficientemente alto para poder acceder a una vivienda digna para ella y yo. Vivimos en el coche de mi madre mientras nos daban un cupo en el shelter que tardo 6 meses. Mi madre trabaja mas de 40 hrs a la semana y no alcanzamos a cubrir los gastos de una habitacion en Sunnyvale.
Esta situacion por la que atravieso y muchos jovenes como yo en el shelter, nos implide disfrutar de actividades extracurriculares que ofrece mi escuela y que serian muy beneficiosas para mi y mi educacion.
Otro desafio es el transporte. Mi madre en muchas ocasiones no me puede llevarme a la escuela. El recorrido del autobus me toma de 45 a 1hr y si pierdo el autobus, se suma unos 30 minutos mas.
El autobus no es seguro, ni en su recorrido ni la parada de espera.
Este es el desafio que atravesamos los estudiantes y tambien los adultos en el shelter.
Empleo es el desafio que vive, no solo mi madre y los padres en el shelter, sino personas con vivienda tambien. El salario minimo en la ciudad no es sufienciente para vivir dignamente en Sunnyvale

Como he explicado en el curso de esta aplicacion soy residente del shelter y lider de la Comunidad de Sunnyvale Community Services. He tenido varias iniciativas que comparti con Paulina para realizar algunas obras sociales en el shelter con nuestro grupo. Repartimos comida, ropa y realizamos diferentes
actividades para los ninos en diciembre.
Tambien apoyo las diferentes ferias de recursos que se realizan en Sunnyvale Community Services enfocadas en nuestros vecinos mas necesitados.
Ademas apoye y fui parte fundamental en el primer evento Iberoamericano celebrado en la ciudad, donde disfrutamos la riqueza cultural y contribuciones de la comunidad hispana en Sunnyvale. Ademas de apoyar a los pequenos negocios de la ciudad.

What motivated you to apply for this board or commission? Since I’ve lived in the city, I have observed some issues related to inclusion and diversity. I would like to be part of the solution and change to make this city a place where I can live and grow in my development goals.
What skills or attributes can you bring to this board or commission? I can bring a fresh perspective from the viewpoint of a young person who has just arrived in the country and has experienced many of the challenges that the immigrant community faces daily. I am a high school student living with my mother in a shelter. In the place where I live and study, I see many of the difficulties the community goes through, and I want to bring my energy and effort to change the reality for many people.
I am passionate about things, I enjoy learning and working in teams. I really enjoy listening to people and finding productive and beneficial solutions.
I am very efficient in what I set out to do. I strive to achieve the goals I set for myself both individually and collectively.
I am very positive, no matter the difficulty, I always try to be that cheerful face that brings smiles to all the people who need it.
The primary role of a board or commission member is to provide advice to City Council on policy

When we take the time to listen to different individuals, not just those who share our culture and ideology, we begin to build a community based on respect and tolerance.
This would be the first step in initiating processes of inclusion and equity in the city, understanding that by listening, we create spaces for citizen participation and generate a sense of belonging and involvement.
In this way, we will find answers to the common problems and concerns people face daily when accessing public services and programs the city offers.
Additionally, by engaging with the different cultural groups in the city, we would foster a sense of equity and inclusion, where everyone feels they are part of the city and that their opinion is valuable.

I am part of the community leaders of Sunnyvale Community Services. As a member of the group, I have participated in various activities to improve the quality of life for our neighbors through social work and advocacy.
Additionally, I am involved in the Latino volunteer group at Homestead High School.
