Council to know?
I am writing to respectfully request reappointment to the Parks and Recreation Commission. Over the past 4 years, I have had the privilege of serving on the Commission, including the honor of holding the position of Chair for two consecutive years. During this time, I have been committed to advocating for policies and projects that enhance our city's public spaces and recreational opportunities.
One of the initiatives I am particularly proud of is my work to advance the creation of dog off-leash areas within our city parks.
Recognizing the importance of designated spaces where
community members and their pets can safely interact, I have worked closely with fellow commissioners, city staff, and community stakeholders to identify potential sites and develop practical proposals. This effort has been instrumental in fostering a more inclusive park experience for pet owners.
Additionally, I have worked to assist in developing a fuller view of the benefits and drawbacks of field turf versus natural grass at city parks. This study is crucial for making informed decisions that balance environmental sustainability, maintenance costs, and usability. By bringing together experts and community voices, we are closer to establishing guidelines that reflect both fiscal responsibility and community needs.
Furthermore, I have actively participated in pushing the study exploring the potential transformation of PG&E-owned lands into city park spaces. This project aligns with our mission to increase accessible green areas, and I have collaborated with various stakeholders to assess feasibility, environmental considerations, and long-term maintenance strategies.

I am dedicated to advancing the projects I have helped initiate and to exploring new opportunities that benefit residents. My ongoing commitment to this role is driven by a passion for public service and a dedication to creating vibrant, accessible parks for everyone.
