What motivated you to apply for
this board or commission?
I felt motivated to apply is because this issue has always been one I have been fascinated by. I have heard about climate change from when I was very young. It has been an issue that I have always heard about and wanted to help with. This commission is the one that deals with looking on how to improve energy consumption and how to improve the current state of the city.
What skills or attributes can you
bring to this board or
commission?
I believe one important skill to have is the ability to explain complex problems. I currently work as a paraeducator helping English learning students with high school. I believe that being able to explain a topic in different ways is always extremely beneficial to any subject. I have some experience looking at data.
In my time in university I took some statistics classes. That helped me have a better understanding of the data I would read about and have to explain.

board or commission role?
have some experience with explaining data which I believe will be a great help.I would try to use examples to make sure topics are understood by both city officials and citizens of the city. I am also bilingual (Spanish) and can help with translating topics if needed.

Comunidad de Sunnyvale.). In this group I have volunteered with helping with events. One event we set up was the Ibero-American Festival.

are the primary sustainability
policy issues this commission will
be addressing over the next few
years?
One issue to be aware of Proper information. I believe that this data is only useful to those who understand it.Helping public messaging be clear and informative is important. As more people being aware of city policies and actions is always a good thing.
Another policy issue to be aware of is electric vehicles. Whether they are private or public vehicles, decarbonizing transportation should be encouraged when possible. As they will likely be more widely used in the future.

I believe the playbook was good. I would improve the key terms and glossary section. Having key terms defined at the bottom of pages would be helpful. Or have the page of the key
