A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SUNNYVALE AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 1151-22,
THE CITY’S SALARY RESOLUTION, TO ADD LIFE
INSURANCE FOR THE MAYOR AND CITY
COUNCILMEMBERS
WHEREAS, the Human Resources Department has proposed adding a life insurance benefit for the mayor and city councilmembers, and amendments to the pay plan schedule and employee benefits must be included in the City’s Salary Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SUNNYVALE THAT:
1. Resolution No. 1151-22 is hereby amended to revise section 5.550 (Life Insurance) to read as follows:
5.550 Life Insurance
The City shall provide life insurance equal to one-time annual base salary for employees in Categories D, F and K, up to a maximum coverage of $175,000. In addition, the employee has the option of buying additional insurance of one-times their annual base salary up to the maximum allowable coverage.
The City shall also provide life insurance for Mayor and Councilmembers with a coverage of $50,000. Mayor and Councilmembers have the option of buying additional insurance of one-times their annual stipend.
All coverage is subject to the terms and conditions of the insurance policy and current tax law provisions.
2. All other provisions of Resolution No. 1151-22 shall remain in full force and effect.
3. The Salary Resolution amendments noted above shall be effective the pay period including July 6, 2025.
