Briefly describe what you learned
by watching or attending a
meeting of the City Council,
board or commission. What
improvements would you
suggest?
During my observation of the City Council meeting, I was impressed by the dedication of the council members and the passionate engagement of the community. However, I noted a few areas for improvement:
1. Increased accessibility: Some community members faced barriers in participating, such as limited time for public comment .
2. More transparent decision-making: At times, the council's deliberations seemed opaque, leaving some community members confused about the reasoning behind certain decisions. I would suggest implementing clearer explanations of the
decision-making process and providing more detailed information about the issues under consideration in a timely fashion
3. Greater community outreach: While there was a noticeable effort to engage with the community, I believe more could be done to proactively involve underrepresented groups and ensure their voices are heard. As someone experienced in outreach and community engagement, I would work to establish stronger relationships with diverse community groups.
As a current Human Rights Commissioner for the county, I bring a unique perspective and skillset to the table:
- Experience advocating for marginalized communities.
- Strong understanding of human rights principles.
- Proven track record of collaboration and community
engagement as I am also part of several. nonprofits locally.
I'm excited about the prospect of joining the City Council Commissions and contributing my skills, experience, and passion to serve the community.

To better serve our diverse community, I would suggest the following improvements to our parks and recreation infrastructure and programming that better serves our diverse community.
Community engagement is the key and fostering partnerships and collaborations will go long way
Planning Commission

land for new development. This
could increase pressure for
redevelopment of existing
developed areas. How can
Planning respond to this
situation?
Updating zoning and land use regulations , encouraging public and private partnerships and promoting reuse and rehabilitation of existing buildings by reducing demolitions wherever possible will be the charter I will be promoting
Planning Commissioners are
often asked to consider social,
economic and environmental
issues when reviewing proposals.
How do we achieve a balanced
community?
by constantly monitoring and evaluating community outcomes:
Regularly tracking and assessing community indicators, such as housing affordability, transportation options, and community satisfaction, to inform future planning decisions all by prioritizing environmental sustainability
Prankali Dani
What do you see as the greatest
land use challenges facing the
City? How do you propose
addressing them?
As the City develops, there is a risk of displacing long-time residents, small businesses, and community organizations, leading to a loss of community character and cultural identity.
This and challenges like this can be addressed by focussing on policies like inclusionary zoning, community land trusts, and rent control to increase affordable housing options to create more equitable sustainable and livable city
