I have worked at Apple and Amazon in the engineering leadership roles working with both tech and non-tech people to build products like Alexa. During this time, I have solved various complex engineering and non-engineering issues. This experience will help me contribute to commission, IMO.

What do you think are major
equity challenges facing the
Sunnyvale community?
As someone who were born in the lower middle class in India and eventually raised in life through education, I think that we should encourage everyone, particularly kids from marginalized communities, to focus on education, by providing them with necessary resources so that they can succeed.
In South Bay, the divide between riches and poor are significant.
We should provide an environment where people in need,
particularly younger generation should be able to learn and specialize in skills that they are good at so that they can make money through honest means to make a living.

First of all, I am a woman in Tech. I am an immigrant from India nearly 30 years ago. During my time in the BigTech in
engineering leadership roles, I have worked with people from various communities.Only 20% of Women barely make it past Sr manager roles for various reasons. I have mentored Women grow in their tech career by understanding their challenges, how they can overcome those challenges so that they can succeed. I have hired close to 40% of women which was barely 15-20% at Amazon during my tenure.
