What motivated you to apply for
this board or commission?
As a highschool student, I felt motivated to apply for the Human Relations Commission because I believe the youth deserves a stronger voice in our community. Currently, me and many of my peers have expressed frustration about how little we are informed of current events and opportunities in Sunnyvale. I hope to bridge that gap by increasing transparency and communication between the Sunnyvale government, and the youth who call this
community their home.
What skills or attributes can you
bring to this board or
commission?
I bring a fresh perspective, open-mindedness, and a strong commitment to inclusion. As a student, I am used to working with many people of different backgrounds and I am constantly finding ways to include everyone, no matter their beliefs or values. I am also organized, creative, and eager to contribute new ideas to help the commission connect with younger community members.

steps would you take to
effectively exercise this specific
board or commission role?
To effectively advise the City Council, I would regularly attend meetings and events, listen to feedback, and stay informed about current issues in the community. I'd make sure to consider multiple perspectives, especially those of underrepresented or affected community members. I would collaborate with fellow commissioners, use data and community feedback to make
recommendations, and communicate ideas clearly to help the Council make informed policy decisions.

- Attended Healthcare panel: I discussed ideas about the field of medicine, as well as the healthcare industry with experienced doctors and peers. Through this panel, I learned to communicate my ideas with people of all ages, and stay open-minded to new opinions.

and civic organizations.
- Homestead CSF member- I have regularly volunteered through homestead CSF to help with community events such as
elementary school book drives and gardening events.
- Homestead High School Blood Drive Coordinator: Coordinated Homesteads Fall Blood Drive; aided donors in the donation process to ensure and smooth and positive experience; worked with people of all age groups including Stanfords Blood Center and my own school administration

What do you think are major
equity challenges facing the
Sunnyvale community?
I think one of Sunnyvale's biggest equity challenges is bridging gaps between different groups in our community, especially across age, culture, and income. Many families struggle with affordable housing or language barriers in communal areas.
Younger residents, including myself, have felt disconnected from local decision-making. Encouraging communication, outreach, and programs that bring people from different backgrounds together could help build a greater and stronger community.

with historically marginalized
communities. How have your
actions benefited these
communities?
As a Homestead High School Blood Drive Coordinator, I organized a School-Wide blood drive that was not only open to students, but parents and teacher as well. We received roughly 50 donors and with their help, as well as the assistance of the Stanford Blood Center, we were able to provide lifesaving blood to patients in need who might not have received it otherwise.
