Member Linda Sell

Present: 3 -

PUBLIC HEARING/GENERAL BUSINESS
Recreation Services Manager, Angela Chan, provided a presentation on Community Event and Neighborhood Grant Program funding recommendations for the 2026 cycle. Highlights included: a review of 2025 grants, overview of 2026 grant applications, and subcommittee funding recommendations.

The members requested clarification on the status of a few applications and events.

The Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce was noted as having no staff recommendation for funding of the 2026 Art and Wine Festival, because they may be earning revenue for the event based on the event budget submitted.

Staff responded that the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce can reapply in the Spring if they have a change in revenue projection.

Chair Sell opened public comment.

Valerie, a member of the public attending in person, expressed appreciation for the recent changes to the funding amounts and application process.

Max, a member of the public attending online, also expressed appreciation for the recent changes.

Chair Sell closed public comment.

Meeting Minutes - Draft
Member Srinivasan moved and Member Cisneros seconded the motion to recommend to Council to approve the 2026 funding levels as submitted, with the note that the Chamber will be evaluating how their fundraising goes and could re-apply in the Spring.

Chair Sell stated that she would be abstaining from the vote on this item because she is a member of the Presbyterian Church, which has submitted a funding application for an event. While she is not legally required to abstain, she feels that participating in the vote would present a conflict of interest given this connection.

The motion carried by the following vote:

Yes: Member Cisneros
Member Srinivasan

No: 0
Abstained: Member Sell1 -
