What motivated you to apply for
this board or commission?
My motivation to apply for the Arts Commissioner role comes from a deep belief in the power of arts and culture to bring communities together, inspire creativity, and reflect diverse voices. I have seen how public art and cultural programs can transform neighborhoods, create a sense of belonging, and provide meaningful opportunities for artists.

I was actively involved as a PTA member at Stocklmeir
Elementary School, where I contribute to organizing events such as International Dance Fairs and Art Fairs. These experiences have allowed me to witness how art and culture can bring people together, celebrate diversity, and create a sense of belonging within the community.

I also served as a Scout Master and Scout Counselor for the City of Sunnyvale, where I mentored youth and promote leadership, teamwork, and community service. This experience has further strengthened my commitment to civic engagement and youth development.

In 2025, I contributed to the Sunnyvale city's Festival of Lights(Diwali) by organizing and leading an Indian dance flash mob. This experience allowed me to combine artistic expression with community participation, creating an inclusive and joyful cultural experience for the public.

With my passion for community engagement and appreciation for the arts, I am eager to contribute to thoughtful decision-making, advocate for artists, and help shape programs that enrich the cultural landscape of our city.

What skills or attributes can you
bring to this board or
commission?
I bring good communication skills, teamwork, and a strong interest in the arts. I enjoy listening to different ideas and working with people from diverse backgrounds. I am organized,
responsible, and willing to learn. I also care about making arts accessible to everyone in the community and supporting local artists.

The primary role of a board or
commission member is to provide
advice to City Council on policy
issues that are within the scope
of the board or commission. What
steps would you take to
effectively exercise this specific
board or commission role?
I would listen to the community and artists, review proposals carefully, and work with other members to make fair decisions. I would support creative and inclusive projects, and also encourage programs in parks and recreation spaces so more people can enjoy and participate.
