Chair Veith called the Arts Commission meeting to order at 7:03 p.m

Chair Veith announced the City’s Community Equity Assessment forums and encouraged residents to participate. Information regarding dates, locations, language interpretation, and childcare registration was provided.

Approve the Arts Commission Minutes of April 15, 2026 as submitted.
PUBLIC HEARINGS/GENERAL BUSINESS
26-0062 Review and Recommendation of Public Art for Plaza del Sol, Phase II
Kristin Dance, Management Analyst, provided an overview of the Plaza de Sol, Phase II project. Highlights included: project and process overview, and selected location.
After the staff report, the Commission heard presentations from five artist and artist teams proposing public art concepts for Plaza del Sol Phase II:
-Proposal 1: Charles Gadeken, "Entwined Cloud"
-Proposal 2: Luminous Waveforms
-Proposal 3: Mandy Palasik Studio, "Vector Field"
-Proposal 4: James Peterson, "Joy"
-Proposal 5: Studiofolia, "Radiant Ripples"
Each commissioner ranked each proposal from 1 - 5.
Final ranking of commissioners (to be forwarded to City Council):
1. Charles Gadeken, "Entwined Cloud"
2. Luminous Waveforms
3. James Peterson, "Joy"
4. Studiofolia, "Radiant Ripples"
5. Mandy Palasik Studio, "Vector Field"
Vice Chair Filley moved and Commissioner Kauffman seconded the motion to approve the above ranking to be submitted to Council.
