A R E S O L U T I O N O F T H E C I T Y C O U N C I L O F T H E C I T Y O F SUNNYVALE AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 1151-22, THE CITY’S
SALARY RESOLUTION, TO UPDATE THE SALARY SCHEDULE TO
INCREASE THE DESIGNATED PAY PLAN CATEGORY E (EMPLOYEES
REPRESENTED BY THE SUNNYVALE MANAGERS’ ASSOCIATION,
CATEGORY D (CONFIDENTIAL UNREPRESENTED CLASSIFIED
MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEES) AND CATEGORY K (UNCLASSIFIED
MANAGEMENT EMPLOYEES APPOINTED BY THE CITY ATTORNEY)
WHEREAS, the City undertook a compensation study of non-sworn management pay ranges, as compared with the local comparable cities in the region; and WHEREAS, the study found that some management classifications earned wages 5% or more below the market median, the threshold used to determine whether a classification was outside of market; and
WHEREAS, after reviewing placement in market, the City also reviewed compaction between management classifications, and internal benchmarks for classifications where not enough market comparisons could be found; and
WHEREAS, Human Resources has proposed an updated salary table with new salary ranges for classifications in Pay Plan categories E (Sunnyvale Managers’ Association), D (Confidential Unrepresented Classified Management Employees), and K (Management Employees Appointed by the City Attorney) that reflect the results of the compensation study and analysis; and
WHEREAS, the salary schedule must be included in the City’s Salary Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SUNNYVALE THAT:
1. R e s o l u t i o n N o . 1 1 5 1 - 2 2 , t h e C i t y ’ s S a l a r y R e s o l u t i o n , i s h e r e b y a m e n d e d t o update the pay rates for Pay Plan categories E, D and K, as set forth in Exhibit “A” attached and incorporated by reference, effective September 13, 2026.
2. All other provisions of Resolution No. 1151-22 shall remain in full force and effect.
