1 SIDE LETTER AGREEMENT
BETWEEN THE PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICERS’ ASSOCIATION AND
THE CITY OF SUNNYVALE
This side letter is entered into by and between the Sunnyvale Public Safety Officers' Association ("PSOA'') and the City of Sunnyvale ("City"), collectively referred to as the “Parties.”
RECITALS
1. The Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") between the City and PSOA expires on December 31, 2027, if either party requests to negotiate a successor MOU by July 4, 2027, or else the MOU expires on December 31, 2028.
2. The approved City of Sunnyvale 2026-27 Budget included a service level adjustment to establish a Community Crime Reduction Team (“CCRT”) within Police Services, providing a proactive, intelligence-driven capability focused on emerging crime trends, organized retail theft, and quality-of-life issues.
3. The City and the PSOA have conferred and have mutually agreed that a newly identified special assignment for CCRT, and associated premium pay, should be incorporated into the PSOA MOU as a side letter, until a successor MOU is negotiated.
AGREEMENT
The Parties agree as follows:
1. The enumerated list in Article 26.1 is amended to include:
• (4) Community Crime Response Team Officers and (1) Lieutenant Public Safety Officers and Lieutenants who are routinely and consistently assigned to the Community Crime Reduction Team (CCRT) to perform intelligence duties, including acquiring, analyzing, and leveraging intelligence to identify and respond to emerging crime trends or sprees, shall receive an additional 5.0% of base pay for each full pay period they are assigned to this temporary special assignment.
2. The change described in section 1 above will be effective the start of the pay period following City Council approval of this side letter and continue until a successor MOU is ratified and approved by Council.
