City of Sunnyvale Linear Park Proposal – PG&E Response

Thank you for your request regarding the proposed Linear Park/Open Space within the PG&E utility corridor. PG&E evaluated the City's proposal in coordination with its Land Management and Electric Transmission teams. Although we initially thought it was possible, after further review, we determined that we are currently unable to commit to allowing the development of the linear park due to upcoming planned electric infrastructure improvements in the area, including a reconductor project currently anticipated for approximately 2031, which may affect the proposed park location.

Given the planned infrastructure investments, PG&E cannot consider the proposed park use until the utility work is completed, and the site can reevaluate. We understand that the city would like a commitment, post infrastructure improvements, but PG&E is unable to provide any commitment regarding future approval because utility needs and project requirements may change over time. The PG&E team is willing to reevaluate the linear park concept after the infrastructure improvement upgrades.

Sincerely,

Monica Faria
