Dan Newton, City Manager, stated that multiple items are needed for this project including a contract with PeeWee Enterprises for assisting in the investigation and placing k-rail on Main Street. The cost for their services is just under $8,800. This was verbally agreed upon, but approval is requested prior to signing this contract.
Mr. Newton stated that he did execute an agreement with NST Engineering for a structural assessment of the building.
He added that the third item is for the partial demolition of the Main Street fronting wall. He stated that contract language is currently being reviewed with multiple contractors and that there is a court proceeding this afternoon. If the hold is lifted by the court, the demo is scheduled for this Friday, depending on weather. He added that the resolution is for $94,800 but it is written in a way that would permit spending up to that amount.
Council Member Bortle inquired if the front facing wall was going to be braced by the property owner. Mr. Newton responded that it was discussed, but he is unaware of whether the owner's engineer showed up on the day stated by the owner.
Mayor pro tem Brown inquired as to whether the costs are recoverable to which Mr.
Newton responded that, at this time, they are all recoverable. 24-6375 St. Francis.pdf
