A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAFT DECLARING
CERTAIN PROPERTY SURPLUS LAND AND FINDING THAT SUCH DECLARATION
IS EXEMPT FROM ENVIRONEMENTAL REVIEW UNDER THE CALIFORNIA
ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY ACT
WHEREAS, the City OF Taft (“City”) is the owner in fee simple of that certain real property described in Exhibit “A” attached hereto and made a part hereof (“Property”); and WHEREAS, pursuant to the Surplus Land Act (Government Code Sections 54220-54233) (“Act”), as amended by A.B. 1486, effective January 1, 2020, surplus land is land owned in fee simple by the City for which the City Council takes formal action in a regular public meeting declaring the land is surplus and not necessary for the City’s use; and WHEREAS, pursuant to the Act, as amended, land must be declared either surplus land or exempt surplus land, as supported by written findings, before the City may take any action to dispose of it consistent with the City’s policies and procedures; and WHEREAS, the Property is vacant and not currently being used by the City and staff has determined that the Property is not suitable for City use; and WHEREAS, the City desires to declare the Property is surplus land and not necessary for the City’s use.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAFT:
Section 1: The foregoing recitals are incorporated into this Resolution by this reference and constitute a material part of this Resolution.
Section 2: The City Council hereby declares that the Property is surplus property and not necessary for the City’s use.
