Dear City of Taft:
The Taft District Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau is having the 79th Annual Taft Christmas Parade on Center street on Monday, December 9, 2024. We are requesting a road closure for the event as follows:
● Center Street between 8th Street and 2nd street

● 8th Street between Main Street and Center Street
All of these closures will be between the hours of 4:30 pm – 9pm.
In addition to the street closure, we need the necessary permits from the city to host the event.
We will have a temporary stage with sound set up at Center Street and 5th Street for the judge’s booth. I have included the encroachment permit application.
Thank you for your assistance.

TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS
AGENDA MATTER:
ADDITION OF CORRECTIONAL FACILITY MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR TO THE EMPLOYEE
CLASSIFICATION PLAN AND ADOPT JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The City of Taft re-opened the Community Correctional Facility in October 2023. Prior to closing in 2021 the Facility had its own dedicated maintenance staff. Since then, existing Public Works staff have been responsible for the maintenance and repair of the facility. Based on the ongoing needs it is recommended to add the classification of Correctional Facility Maintenance Supervisor. This would restore the position that was assigned to the facility when it was previously in operation.
Both the Personnel and Finance Committees have reviewed this request and have approved forwarding to the City Council for approval.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Motion to approve a resolution of the City Council of the City of Taft entitled A RESOLUTION OF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TAFT UPDATING THE POSITION CLASSIFICATION PLAN

City of Taft Agenda Report

TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND COUNCIL MEMBERS
AGENDA MATTER:
UPDATE OF THE POSITION CLASSIFICATION PLAN PERTAINING TO CITY HALL STAFFING SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Municipal Records Administrator has announced her intention to retire in the upcoming year. Staff is taking a proactive step in looking at options for future staffing. Rather than recruiting for and replacing a department head level position, staff recommends creating the position of Municipal Records Specialist. This mid-level position would create the opportunity to develop existing staff to be able to assume greater responsibility. In the same regard it is also recommended we create the position of Human Resources Analyst. These classifications will not be additional positions, but would allow for existing staff to be placed at appropriate levels based on their duties and responsibilities.
Both the Personnel and Finance Committees have reviewed this request and have approved forwarding to the City Council for approval.
