AGENDA MATTER:
THE ALLOWED PURCHASE OF (12) GLOCK, MODEL 22, 40-CALIBER SEMI-AUTOMATIC
DUTY PISTOLS BY SWORN TAFT POLICE OFFICERS
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
As an employee incentive, due to the recent purchase of new Taft Police Department duty weapons, I am requesting the City of Taft allow sworn Taft Police Officers the opportunity to purchase twelve (12) used Glock, Model 22, 40-caliber, semi-automatic pistols. Pro-Force, our current single source distributor, determined the trade-in value of the current duty weapons at $200.00 per weapon. If approved, the City of Taft will allow each of the 12 sworn Police Officers the ability to purchase their currently assigned duty weapon at a price of $225.00 per weapon.
This transaction will be completed by a local FFL (Federal Firearms License Dealer), which will include California tax, DROS fees, and a processing cost of $10.00 per weapon. The total cost per weapon will be approximately $280.00.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Motion to approve transfer and purchase of used firearms to Taft Police Officers as requested by Chief Of Police and find that the activity is not a project per California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) as set forth in Section 15060(c)(3) and Section 15378 of the CEQA Guidelines.
