SUBJECT RSTP VALLEY 2 IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT AWARD
BACKGROUND:
Following the resurfacing of Valley Blvd from Curry to Beech in 2023, this project aims to continue repairs to this roadway that was originally a state route and is composed of numerous layers of asphalt underlain by varying soil compositions. Signs of deterioration include alligator cracking in the asphalt as well as failure of some concrete curbs and gutters. High volumes of traffic support the use of Regional Surface Transportation Program (RSTP) funds in this area.
This project will rehabilitate approximately.45 miles of AC pavement. This is accomplished by performing repairs of AC pavement bygrinding, crack-filling, leveling, and resurfacingon Valley Boulevard from Beech Street to Tucker Road. As recommended by Councilmember Smith, the project will now include 500 linear feet of asphalt curb along the northside of Valley Boulevard from Beech Street to Griffin Street.
