Interests & Experiences
Why are you interested in serving on this board/committee and what do you believe you can contribute?
It is with great enthusiasm that I submit my application to serve on the Traffic and Transportation Advisory Commission. I believe myself to be a strong candidate for this position based on my educational background, past work experience, and passion for public service.
Throughout my graduate studies, my coursework in Qualitative and Quantitative Research Methods, Financial Management, Public Policy Development and experience in local government have equipped me with a grounded understanding of government operations and community needs.
My past work experience has allowed me the opportunity to serve as a Research Assistant aimed at improving the lives of those suffering from homelessness, working for and with municipal government agencies, and serving as a community organizer. As a Project Control Specialist, I have experience with risk assessment and financial forecasting, skills that are valuable in analyzing and addressing transportation issues within our community. Additionally, my experience serving various government agencies has taught me the importance of building relationships and collaborating with community stakeholders.
Ultimately, my passion for public service is what brings me to apply to serve on the Traffic and Transportation Advisory Commission. I understand the privilege that comes with not only serving one's own community but also being a fair and impartial representative for all citizens through that service. As the daughter and sister of former members of our local police force and an enthusiastic participant of our community's public and open space, I believe my unique perspective can add value to the Commission's agenda items and proposed policies.
I am excited for the opportunity to use my skills and experience to contribute to the success of the Traffic and Transportation Advisory Commission and make a positive impact in our community. Thank you for your consideration.

Please list current and past involvement with civic, volunteer and non-profit organizations, including City boards/committees, and the dates of activity.
Beginning back in my family's Amgen days (30 years ago,) | volunteered on local task forces for the park on Ventu near Rancho Conejo (doing all the EIR work), have worked with James Storehouse (local foster care nonprofit,) as General Counsel in the last ten years, (now just on the Advisory board), worked with COSF and COSTAC in the last 4 years, (just resigned earlier this year to take care of ailing parents,) worked on the opening of the Civic Arts Plaza on their publicity committee, worked with John Short to publicize the City's 50th parade, was on the Board of Pepperdine's Parents' Council for 4 years (2009-2013); Executive Director of a youth organization in TO for 13 years, (2000-2013) affiliated with St Julie's and St Paschal's Churches, on the Pastoral Board and Finance Council at St Julie's for 7 years in the early 2000s, ran a bunch of local churchministries--educational, catechetical, and youth-related for about 20 years at both parishes noted above. Interests & Experiences
Why are you interested in serving on this board/committee and what do you believe you can contribute?
During my last term as a commissioner, I gained great respect for the work that the City staff performs for the residents of this City, and I found it rewarding to be able to critically think through traffic-related problems with the City staff to vet alternative solutions to those problems and, ultimately, make recommendations for approval for those problems to the City Council. I particularly enjoyed reviewing the City staff's work on proposed projects designed to increase public safety and improve the quality of life for the residents of Thousand Oaks. I have fond memories of growing up in Thousand Oaks in the 1980s and 1990s (elementary, middle and high school) and I have always considered Thousand Oaks to be my home. It would be an honor and a privilege to continue serving on this commission and to continue giving back to a City that has given me so much.
