SUBJECT: Traffic and Transportation Advisory Commission Meeting Date – Consider Change from 3rd Wednesday of Each Month
RECOMMENDATION:
Traffic and Transportation Advisory Commission (TTAC) to consider possible alternative meeting date from third Wednesday of each month to a Wednesday or Thursday of each month.
BACKGROUND:
It has been brought to the City’s attention that the Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) has recently revised its governing board meeting schedule which results in a conflict with the existing TTAC meeting schedule which is every third Wednesday of each month. TTAC has been meeting on the third Wednesday of each month since it was established by resolution of the City Council in November 1993. In January 2023, CVUSD changed its governing board meeting schedule from generally the second and fourth Thursday of the month to a new schedule of the first and third Wednesday of the month (Attachment #1). In order to increase public access to both CVUSD meetings and TTAC meetings, the TTAC may consider modifying the current meeting date schedule to avoid this conflict. This would be in line with City Council Goal #2, which is to “Provide municipal government leadership which is open and responsive to residents”.
OPTIONS:
The table below summarizes alternative meeting day options. Mondays and Tuesday are not viable due to Planning Commission and City Council meeting schedules.

Based on the table above, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Thursdays of each month are viable alternative meeting days. The 4th Wednesday and 4th Thursday of each month are also possible options, with the exception of the months of November and December due to Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
The TTAC meeting dates and times are set by resolution of City Council. Section 5 of the current TTAC Resolution (Attachment #2) sets the TTAC meetings on the third Wednesday of each month. Should TTAC vote to change the current monthly meeting date to an alternative date, staff will present to City Council TTAC’s recommendation to change the current meeting days, along with a corresponding resolution to change the meeting days. Staff anticipates City Council review of this recommendation in March 2023. If approved by City Council, staff anticipates that the meeting days would change in, or around April 2023.
