General Questions
I have a passion for our city. I look around Thousand Oaks and I see a city filled with artists, creators and small business owners that are hiding in the corners of a town that has historically been much kinder to chain restaurants and businesses with nationwide recognition.
We need to empower our citizens to be able to execute their art where they live. So many of us go into LA to build the LA economy and cultural scene but we could be doing it all right here. Every time I drive into LA for a concert or event, I think about how many of my colleagues live in the Thousand Oaks area and could be connecting right where we live. We need to create opportunities for that. It will enrich our city in so many ways. Small restaurants, local concerts, movie nights, interdisciplinary collaborations and events and much more will help bring our city together and show those who have always been here, or have always wondered what it’s like to be here, that Thousand Oaks is the vibrant community we know it to be.
I believe that my experience empowering musicians, performers, crafts people and filmmakers can translate to creating excitement and connection among the citizens of TO to encourage the success of local artists, regardless of their discipline. Practically speaking, my skills are wide ranging - event production and promotion, connecting and collaborating with people, leading people, organization, project management & budgeting, vision and design skills have all served me well in the various environments where I work, and I trust will be an asset to the board.

I have been a member of SAG-AFTRA, working professionally as a singer and musician for 32 years. Both of my parents are professional musicians, my mother is an accomplished flute player and my dad is a highly sought-after music contractor. My grandfather was a songwriter for artists like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and more, and my childhood was steeped in music.
I have spent time in local choirs (Los Robles Children’s Choir and then Los Robles Master Chorale) and performed in local theatre organizations like Young Artists Ensemble. I attended La Reina High School where I was the president of the Regent Performers for two years and performed in all of their productions. I attended Pepperdine University and graduated with a degree in Film/Theatre Directing and a minor in Music, Vocal Performance. I went on to study at USC briefly before I began working in Film/TV at Film Independent and on various productions. During this time I continued performing as a vocalist for film scores, television shows, live performances, and albums. I have released three full-length albums as a solo artist and with my band JEMS and collaborate as a songwriter, composer, and vocalist on music for a wide range of projects. Through my work with my band, I have a wealth of knowledge of how to bring the community together in exciting events that promote creativity and connection. As an active member of our community, I have been teaching all ages as a singing and performance coach and mentor. I have become more involved as a parent in my children’s school performances, most recently assisting Frank LaGuardia at MATES and through the summer program. I have been developing a creator discovery series to shine a light on the artists of our city and am passionate about hosting community-building art forward events to bring humans together and empower artists.

General Questions
As an original member of the Roundtable, I am interested in seeing through our efforts to strengthen the arts community. I believe that a community’s access to artistic expression of local, national, and international artists is vital to its overall health, vibrancy, and growth, and I'd like to help our city improve that access.
I believe I bring a unique perspective to the Roundtable as a musical artist working in the national, international, and local arenas and who also has experience serving in the local non- profit sector. In my local position as Director of Music Ministries at Westminster Presbyterian Church, I regularly bring together singers and instrumentalists of varying talent levels and backgrounds to become a unified ensemble. As a volunteer producer of the Conejo Arts Jubilee since 2019, I was tasked with building a cohesive four hour-long program featuring a very eclectic mix of performing and visual artists, balancing varying schedules with the artistic needs of an arts festival. My experience in team building across differing artistic categories would be beneficial in helping create unity and cohesion on the Arts Roundtable.
