Re: Item 12C: Project Design Services for Downtown Thousand Oaks Project – Support
Dear Mayor Adam and Councilmembers,
On behalf of Athens Services, I am writing to you in strong support of Item 12C, Project Design Services for the Downtown Thousand Oaks Project. Athens Services, a family-owned waste collection and recycling company, has been a dedicated partner to Southern California communities for over 60 years, including here in Thousand Oaks.
As the City of Thousand Oaks’ waste collection and recycling services partner, Athens is committed to supporting the city’s strategic economic growth plans for the long term. Our investments in Thousand Oaks, such as the Conejo Center Drive facility with vehicle storage, maintenance facilities, and a compressed natural gas fueling station, demonstrate this commitment. These initiatives have significantly reduced truck trips, delivered environmental benefits, and minimized strain on local roads and traffic—all while enabling us to meet the city’s service needs and serve as a responsible community partner.
The Downtown Thousand Oaks Project represents a transformative opportunity to enhance the quality of life for residents, diversify the local economy, and create a vibrant central hub for social and cultural engagement. This project is a testament to the vision, collaboration, and dedication of all involved over the years.
We respectfully urge you to approve the Project Design Services for the Downtown Thousand Oaks Project, allowing this vital initiative to move forward and benefit the community for generations to come.
Sincerely,
Rondi Guthrie
