Faith Grant Westlake Village 9 - Consent Calendar In favor I was pleased to see and commend the City for the following items on the Consent calendar items D. the purchase of electric van and hybrid trucks, item G. purchase of four electric vans and H. the selection of a consultant related to Fleet Electrification and Battery Storage projects at the Municipal Service Center.

These actions address the burning of fossil fuels like gas and diesel, that are causing the Earth’s atmosphere to warm, resulting in changes to the climate.

All of these Calendar items are in accord with the Climate Environmental Action Plan’s goal of increasing the proportion of clean electric vehicles. Transportation is the second largest producer of greenhouse gases in the City of Thousand Oaks and these steps move the city towards reducing GHG emissions through the use of more efficient and less polluting vehicles.

As a member of two organizations focused on climate sustainability and resilience (Conejo Climate Coalition and the Ventura County chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby) I urge the city to continue transitioning the Municipal fleet to clean energy vehicles and building electrical infrastructure to assist in reaching the city’s target of a 42% reduction in GHG emissions by 2030.
