The City is a member of the Ventura County Emergency Planning Council (EPC), which is coordinated by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services. The EPC is a countywide advisory body whose mission is to facilitate a unified effort in preparing, mitigating, responding, and recovering from local and state emergency incidents. A primary function of this group is the coordination of state and federal grant-funded programs.
The Federal Hazard Mitigation Funding Assistance Program provides City and county-coordinated funding for qualified projects. This program includes annual updates and regular reporting. A requirement of this program and other federal grants is that the City maintain key documents and approve staff who have the authority to execute grant agreements, declarations, and reports related to local and federally-declared disasters.
