Accountant; Senior Analyst
Supervisor of customer accounting and the call center.

Senior analyst was a liaison between the end users of the customer service system and the programmers translating what people wanted to what we could accomplish.

I have spent many years serving organizations that my children were involved with and I now want to serve my own age group.

I think it is important for the City Council and city employees to have the perspective of older residents. And I hope we can broaden the scope of our mission.

I also think there is a lot we can be doing, as a group, to further the needs of our peers as well as encourage them to be active in the community – possibly by expanding the council to have ad hoc committees that work on specific projects (like the resource guide) and expose them to the Council on Aging.

I have been in many volunteer positions in many organizations and have a general idea of what is available in the community as resources – but always looking to expand that base of knowledge.

I am not afraid of hard work, I work well with others and I am creative.

I have a B.S, in Psychology and an M.S. in Accounting which gives me interesting perspective on everything.

Job title:

Summary of duties: (?)
Various Clinical Dialysis Organizations
New England - Prime Medical

CT, NH, MA
RN, Director of Operations
I was a Registered Nurse, BSN. For 25 years, I cared for people with kidney disease in various capacities from direct patient care through Director of Operations, building and directing several clinics in three states. In addition, I volunteered with professional and trade organizations such as National Kidney Foundation, serving on the nursing board and the Scientific Advisory Council to improve patient care, educational opportunities, and quality. For five of those years I was Medical Review Coordinator for a federally mandated non-profit charged with managing data and collaborating with providers to improve quality. At Amgen, I worked with products to improve the lives of patients with kidney disease. I could supply a CV on request.

When we moved here 20+ years ago, we expected to move away in a few years. However, we fell in love with the area - the people, the landscape, and the general "vibe" of the Conejo Valley. We lived 11 years in Moorpark and 13 in Thousand Oaks. We love the city. As a 78 year old woman, with a daughter and her family in the area, I have a perspective from CPRD pre- school through older age.

I have ideas that can improve the experience for older adults: more park and neighborhood benches, more parking near trails, access to restrooms, water fountains, trash cans. We also need to improve bus service. Finally, having downsized twice, and discovered that despite pretty good assets, older residents are mostly priced out of smaller homes. It's not news that we need homes for young families, but we also need affordable and accessible homes with less maintenance closer to services for older residents.

Having volunteered, I am fairly knowledgeable about this valley and many of the good people who make things happen here.

I am computer literate, a good writer and editor, and fairly articulate. I'm prompt with deadlines, do my homework, and many would say I'm a good helper. At this point in my life, I am interested in being a helper, not a leader.

In retirement, I volunteered with LSS, wrote grants for Hospice of the Conejo, coordinated the meals and shelter program, and worked with a local coalition of ecumenical faith groups to assist refugees and immigrants. I have held several volunteer posts at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church since 2001.

I have participated in community support programs throughout my adult life and want to continue do so now that I have moved to Thousand Oakes. The demographics of our age group play an integral role in ensuring that the leadership of Thousand Oaks continue to provide ongoing policies, programs, and support to all residents and that everyone has a shared voice.

I am an innovative clinical/marketing /sales/education professional with strong communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills. My academics in graduate degrees in Nursing, Business, Ethics, and Theology reflect a vision and commitment in caring for the whole person regardless of age.
