Dear City Council Members, City of Thousand Oaks:
Re: Ventura County Neighbors Support Fund
The Board of Directors of the American Association of University Women of Thousand Oaks, voted last night to strongly support the allocation of $100,000 of City funds to the VCCF Neighbor’s Support Fund. We believe this support for the regional nonprofit umbrella organization is extremely needed and will help many city families in dire need.
We recognize the definite need for city money to be provided to the Neighborhood Support Fund. As you may know, in some recent local cases families have been torn apart often leaving women with young children with little economic support. Local businesses are feeling also the strain of their workforce being decimated with workers having a loss in their sense of security.
Thank you very much for your consideration of this request, and we look forward to it being approved this evening.
Sincerely,
Sally Hibbitts
Board of Directors,
AAUW TO

1 Name City Item # In favor/ Opposed Comment
Barb Thomas Thousand Oaks 9 - Consent Calendar In favor I’m in support of Item 9E which will provide a place for the Safe Passage food trailer to enable storage of food for our neighbors with food insecurity and to allow businesses to fulfill their obligations to reduce food waste through safe redistribution.
Barb Thomas Thousand Oaks 9 - Consent Calendar In favor I’m writing in support of Item 9M, the donation to the Ventura County Community Foundation. There is an unmet need for food, utilities and rental assistance for our neighbors in need, often through no fault of their own. The Foundation will help provide such assistance.
