Senior Management Associate Le responded that there was item last year for $17,400 but actual cost was just under $4000 due to the generosity of some pilots. She said that went towards banners in the city and the videos.

City Manager Chaparyan interjected that staff could run the video and that the flyover was a community effort. He said that there is military banner recognition project so there will be honoring veterans.

Councilmember Walser said there was limited knowledge about the return on the investment is for the city. He said there was gain throughout the city as well as internationally. He said he was undecided on this. He said this is likely an all-or-nothing approach to this. He said the military has a large contribution to the 5K and it would not make sense to do it without them.

She said this had to be decided tonight due to the expiration of the Marriot contract. She added that, for those that ask about the donation program, the city has not advertised it and there is no money in it yet. She said donations should be asked for next year not now. Councilmember Griffiths asked how many residents participate in the parade route over the years.

Police Sergeant David Koenig recalled that number being around 100K people on the parade route but that it was reported a few years ago.

Councilmember Griffiths recognized the benefits of the program but that there were many issues that do not have solutions, including budget and staff issues.
