A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TORRANCE, CALIFORNIA IMPLEMENTING
GOVERNMENT CODE SECTION 20636 (cX4) PURSUANT
TO SECTION 2069I RELATING TO EMPLOYER PAID
MEMBER CONTRIBUTIONS TO PUBLIC EMPLOYEES
RETTREMENT SYSTEM (CALPERS) FOR TORRANCE
POLTCE COMMANDERS ASSOCTATTON (TPCA)
WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Torrance has the authority to implement Government Code Section 20636(c)(4) pursuant to Section 20691; and WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Torrance has a written labor policy or agreement which specifically provides for the normal member contributions to California Public Employees Retirement System (CaIPERS) to be paid by the employer, and reported as additional compensation; and
WHEREAS, one of the steps in the procedures to implement Section 20691 is the adoption by the governing body of the City of Torrance of a Resolution to commence paying and reporting the value of said Employer Paid Member Contributions; and WHEREAS, the governing body of the City of Torrance has identified the following conditions for the purpose of its election to pay EPMC:
This benefit shall apply to all employees of Torrance Police Commanders Association (TPCA) hired prior to January 1,2012.
The City shall pay the employee's golo contribution to PERS for safety employees of TPCA pursuant to California Government Code S 20691.
The nine percent (9%) paid by the City shall be considered as employer-paid member contribution (EPMC) in accordance with Government Code S 20-023 20636(c)(a).
Safety employees hired on or after January 1, 2012 shall pay the g% Employer Paid Member Contribution (EPMC).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TORRANCE HEREBY elects to pay and report the value of EPMC, as set forth above. ¡NTRODUCED, APPROVED, and ADOPTED this lst day of March2022 rey
