MINUTES OF A REGULAR MEETING
OF THE TORRANCE CITY COUNCIL
1. CALL TO ORDER
The Torrance City Council convened in a regular meeting on July 30, 2024, at 5:02 p.m. in the West Annex Commission Meeting Room at 3031 Torance Boulevard.
ROLL CALL
Present: Councilmembers Gerson, Kaji, Kalani, Lewis, Mattucci, Sheikh, and Mayor Chen
Absent: None.
Present: City Manager Chaparyan, City Attorney Sullivan, City Clerk Rebecca Poirier and other staff representatives
2. FLAG SALUTE/ INVOCATION
The flag salute was led by Councilmember Kaji.
The non-sectarian invocation was given by Councilmember Kalani.
3. COUNCIL COMMITTEE MEETINGS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mayor Chen announced the Transportation Committee meeting for August 6, 2024. He reminded the public about the community alert system test from the Torrance Refining Company.
4. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
No members of the public spoke .
5. CLOSED SESSION
The City Council immediately recessed to closed session at 5:07 p.m. to confer with the City Manager and the City Attorney on agenda matters listed under 5A) Conference With Legal Counsel -Existing Litigation, 5B) Real Property -Conference With Real Property Negotiator, and 5C) Conference With Labor Negotiator -Litigation pursuant to California Government Code §54956.9(d)(1), California Government Code §54956.8, and California Government Code §54957.6.
Councilmember Lewis left the City Council meeting during the closed session.
The City Council reconvened in public session at 8:25 p.m. No formal action was taken on any item considered in closed session.

15. ADJOURNMENT
MOTION: Councilmember Kalani moved to adjourn the City Council meeting at 8:26 p.m. to Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. for closed session, with regular business commencing at 6:30 p.m. in the LeRoy J. Jackson Council Chamber. Tuesday, August 06, 2024, is a Council Dark Night. Councilmember Gerson seconded the motion. The motion carried by a vote of 6-0 with Councilmember Lewis absent.
