RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation of the Community Services Director that City Council approve holding the 2025 4th of July Fireworks Show and associated event enhancements.
FUNDING
Funding is anticipated to be available in the Fiscal year 2025-26 General Fund Non-Departmental Budget.
DISCUSSION
The City of Torrance has hosted an annual 4th of July Fireworks Show at the Torrance Civic Center since 2016. The event includes a professionally produced fireworks display, public viewing areas, entertainment, and community activities.
For the 2025 4th of July Fireworks Show, the Community Services Department has secured Pyro Spectaculars, Inc. to provide the fireworks display. The contract includes:
Main Show: 350 aerial shells at 3" and 350 aerial shells at 4" Grand Finale: 90 shells at 2.5", 60 shells at 3", and 30 shells at 4" Total Cost: $39,900
Additionally, staff has selected DJ Ozzie to provide music and audio equipment for the event at a cost of $800.
As was done in the previous year, staff proposes providing a reserved seating area for City Council to engage with the community at the LA Galaxy Sports Complex with furniture rentals from Opus Event Rentals at a cost of $2,070.

New Event Feature – Food Truck Area
This year, staff is proposing introduction of a new prepared food and dessert option for attendees.
In partnership with the Kinecta Soccer Center, powered by the LA Galaxy, a designated food truck area will be staged in the parking lot across from the LA Galaxy Sports Complex. Food trucks will be sourced from the City’s approved vendor list. Opus Event Rentals will provide seating and tables for up to 100 attendees in the designated food truck area at a cost of $690.
It should be noted that food and beverages are not permitted inside the LA Galaxy Sports Complex in order to preserve the condition and performance of the artificial turf and adhere to the manufacturer’s warranty.
TOTAL EXPENDITURE:
Fireworks Display: $39,900
DJ & Audio Services: $800
Reserved Seating Area Rentals: $2,070
Food Truck Seating Area Rentals: $690
Total: $43,460
Projected public safety deployment and expenditures are consistent with prior years' event estimates.
Expenses for the special event fall under the authority of the Community Services Department.
Upon approval, staff will proceed with finalizing contracts and preparations for the 2025 event.
Staff recommends Council approve holding the 4th of July Fireworks Show and associated event enhancements.
