I support Mia Kartsonis for this position. I know her name from her and her husbands work here in north Torrance.
Moreover I want to remind you how much impact this position has on your city employees. Traditionally, the city and others put people on civil service and planning commission who have served on another commission, worked to learn more about the city and how it operates and demonstrated their dedication and willingness to serve by serving on another commission.
With respect to all the people applying, I think Mia Kartsonis and Melissa Wright are the only two who have earned your consideration for this important position that will impact our lives.

I hope you would consider comments made by Dr. Berry before this appointment.
Everyone who wants to serve should be commended but this position requires people to set aside their preconceptions and prejudices. This commission affects real lives.
I am concerned when Dr. Berry says black members of our community should be treated different than asian, white, hispanic members.
