DISCUSSION
It is customary for the City Council not to meet following a Monday holiday (with some exceptions) or on the fifth Tuesday of a month. In 2021, the City Council adopted a revised schedule that formalized the practice of holding two regular meetings per month. This adjustment has enhanced public access to agenda materials and increased opportunities for community feedback, while also allowing flexibility to convene special meetings when necessary.
Consistent with that approach, staff is recommending the designation of the following dates as City Council Dark Nights for the second half of calendar year 2025: July 1, July 15, July 29, August 26, September 2 (after Labor Day), September 30, October 2 8, November 11 (Veterans Day), November 25, December 23, and December 30.

Notably, regularly scheduled City Council meetings will average twice a month with other meeting dates being reserved for closed sessions only, which will be the following dates: July 22, August 12, September 16, October 14, and December 9.
A follow-up item will be brought forward in October 2025 to establish City Council Dark Nights for the period of January through June 2026.
