A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF TORRANCE HONORING
Doris Hernandez
UPON HER RETIREMENT FROM THE CITY
AFTER TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF SERVICE
WHEREAS Doris Hernandez began her career with the City of Torrance as a Relief Bus Operator on April 13, 1998, and was hired as a full-time Bus Operator on October 3, 1999; coming from a prior work history in public transportation; and
WHEREAS, throughout the course of her career, Doris has driven with the utmost commitment to the Mission of Torrance Transit, which is to provide safe, reliable, inexpensive and courteous transportation to our customers – the people who live, work and do business in the City of Torrance and the region; and
WHEREAS, during her tenure with Torrance Transit, Doris, has achieved a milestone of operating a bus for a period of four years without a preventable accident, demonstrating her commitment to the highest safety standards, skills in handling a vehicle and a concern for the well-being of customers and the general public; and
WHEREAS, Doris has maintained a positive customer service record, along with receiving numerous teamwork awards; has been the recipient of multiple certificates of appreciation for her dedication to service – including her support of special events and activities such as the Torrance Transit Bus Roadeo and Transit Driver Appreciation Day; and
WHEREAS Doris consistently arrived at work on time, prepared and focused on performing her responsibility of operating a bus safely, while adhering to all policies and procedures; and while servicing the Torrance Community and South Bay region she has demonstrated the qualities of being respectful, humble, honest, generous and always open to volunteering; and

WHEREAS, throughout the 25 years that Doris Hernandez represented the City of Torrance, her professional work ethic and quality of character made her a highly respected employee, co-worker and public servant as evidenced by her consistent execution of duties for the benefit of the Transit Department and the South Bay region.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Torrance, California, does hereby commend, honor, and congratulate
Doris Hernandez
for her dedication, professionalism, and contributions to the City of Torrance while in employment; and be it further resolved, that Doris be wished a full and rewarding life in her retirement years.
