RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation of the Civil Service Commission and Human Resources Director that City Council:
1. Approve a revised class specification for Fire Prevention Manager/Fire Marshal; and
2. Approve a revised class specification for Fire Prevention Specialist; and
3. Approve a revised class specification for Fire Prevention Supervisor; and
4. Approve a revised class specification for Senior Fire Prevention Specialist.
FUNDING
None required.
DISCUSSION
Effective July 1, 2024, the State of California changed the education and training requirements for staff that oversee hazardous waste and hazardous waste materials. The education and training requirements have been added to the class specifications for all positions in the Torrance Fire Department Community Risk Reduction Division that conduct and oversee inspection and enforcement activities for hazardous materials.
