To whom it may concern,
Stop protecting Torrance police, and show the citizens of Torrance that you have the courage and moral fiber to defend citizens against cops who murder, harass and lie.
Christopher De’Andre Mitchell was executed, without a trial or evidence, on suspicion of a petty crime within 15 seconds of being approached.
Is this the type of government you swore to uphold?
I demand justice for his family, for the entire community of Torrance, and for all of those who visit, by way of establishing an independent civilian oversight commission to provide necessary transparency and accountability for the Torrance police department.
Do not open the door to militarized weapons in the hands of TPD, or any civilian police force in the neighborhoods of America. Here is a resource that addresses many of the reasons why to steer away from this acceleration.
