RECOMMENDATION
Recommendation of the Fire Chief that City Council accept and appropriate the Fiscal Year 2024 Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Grant Program award in the amount of $458,032.
FUNDING
None required.
DISCUSSION
The City of Torrance has been awarded funding to support staffing and the purchase of equipment aimed at enhancing security within the City and its surrounding areas. The funds have been allocated as follows:
Police Department:
•$69,168.00 – Regional Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system •$56,587.00 – Video security and surveillance equipment Fire Department:
•$300,000.00 – Regional Training Group (RTG): Equipment, resources, and project management
•$12,277.00 – Unified Response to Violent Incidents (URVI) training: Staff expenses •$20,000.00 – Tactical Emergency Medical Services (TEMS): Personal protective equipment
Total subaward amount for Police and Fire:
•$458,032.00
